Although the internet has practically taken over how people
do everything these days, I have noticed over time that my handmade jewelry
pieces sell in comparably better in person than they do online.
It’s important and smart to
have your collection available on the web so that anyone can access it at all
times, but you should make sure you’re not just providing one outlet for sales.
If you’re just starting out or don’t want to sell where a tax I.D. number is
required like myself, there are other alternatives available.
A great way to get recognized and make your items available
in person is to show at jewelry parties. Doing that allows you to be the focus
of the event and lets the guests know what is being offered beforehand so they
are prepared to shop for and purchase your specific items.
Start off with
hosting your own event to get the business started, and then encourage friends
and family to have a showing party as well.
Approaching retail stores that carry merchandise reflecting
similar characteristics, styles, and target customers is another great way to
reach more potential customers. Make sure you research possible places to contact
and narrow down your findings to the best options.
That conclusion will be
based on how well your items fit in with the store, if you offer something new
that they don’t already have, believe they will generate customer interest and provide
an exclusive product, the probability of sales your collection could generate,
and lastly, why it would be successful selling at that specific place.
Good luck!
